I try to quote from truly awesome movies such as A Christmas Story, Cool Hand Luke, Any Given Sunday, and Office Space as much as possible, so I’m always thrilled when I can incorporate one of those into an email subject line or blog title, as demonstrated above. A month ago, I submitted a few of my crochet designs to Plush You! 2007 and they were accepted! It’s not a contest exactly, but rather a few craft blogs, all of which have real stores in Seattle! They get tons of applications and always have difficulty choosing, so I feel absolutely honored to be part of it. Each accepted crafter sends pieces to them and they are featured (and for sale) in a month long show at the store.

I submitted my fried egg, frowny foods (s’more, marshmallow), and oyster, all of which I’ve blogged about here. Of course I waited until the last day possible in true Alicia fashion, and soon forgot about it because with contests and deadlines, you’re never aware of the date you’d be contacted. They will be at Schmancy, “a fun toy store focusing on vinyl toys and urban plush.” Check it out! The other stores are Pants(funky cool underwear and t-shirts), Fancy(jewelry) and Nancy (ceramics and art).

I must say, as a fairly humble crafter, reading the words “We have chosen each designer…” in the acceptance email made my day. They called me a designer! They called me a designer! Ahem, yes, I’m a designer. 😉 The show or run at the store will be in October, so if you happen to be in Seattle, stop by and take some pictures of the famous crochet goods. It’s humorous to think that I have never been to Seattle, but Fried Egg, Oyster, and the Marshmallows will have by the fall. To Schmancy in Seattle they will go!
