I Spy Pi Part II — Happy Pi Day!
Pi meets Safety Cone! (Hey, want to make your very own crochet Pi? Go here. Oh, you want to make Safety Cone too? Go here! Who is Safety Cone? Oh boy, you’re in for it–check out ALL of his adventures!)

Safety Cone: Hi, I’m Snow-Proof Safety Cone, or Safety Cone for short. Hehe, I’m short too. What’s your name?
Pi: Hi, I’m Pi!
Safety Cone: Pie? You don’t look like a pie.
Pi: Oh, not a pie you eat, but Pi. The number?
Safety Cone: Oh. What number?
Pi: 3.141592653589…
Safety Cone: um…
Pi: 7933238462…
Safety Cone: er…
Pi: 643383279502…
This went on for a looooooong time. No wait a minute, it’s STILL going on. Okay, Safety Cone just ran away from Pi and into my hand.

Hi! I found your blog through the post on FIPS. Your pi dolls are so cute. I couldn’t believe this was an actual holiday until I saw that my company had done an entire feature on it [http://www.findingdulcinea.com/features/foodie/2008/November/A-Passion-for-Pies.html] Our apparently includes copious info about PIE. Look forward to visiting your blog.

SO cute!
I’m still trying to learn to crochet so I can make the safety cones but I mentioned it to a friend and she wants to do it too so I’ll pass the URL to her so at least one of us can have fun while I learn.

I will show my students this page. Maybe that will help them understand irrational numbers? I can have them put on a skit, in fact. They could even video it on their cell phones and put that into Windows Movie Maker, edit their video, and have a learning product? This product would not prove proficiency or understanding, BUT it could help to explain–in a different way–the concept of an irrational number. They could also play rational numbers and repeating numbers!! Ooh! That sounds like perfect fun, and I think that might help them to better understand the concepts??? I could have them write their scripts during my Homeroom and I could allow them to practice during my Homeroom and at lunch

Your personification of him makes him look very cheerful! I love it!
